The American Bashkir Curly Horse Registry (ABCR) was founded in 1971 and is the oldest Registry of Curly Horses. The goals of the ABCR are to preserve this rare horse breed, to promote the Curly Horse as much as possible in shows and in the media, provide education about the special features of the horses, and to protect the genetic pool of the small breed population worldwide.

NATIONAL AWARDS

ABC Breed Promotion:
Annual award presented to a current ABC Adult(s) in good standing with the ABC Registry and who has participated in exhibits, demonstrations and promotions of ABC horses, in the best interest of the ABC Registry who has accumulated the most points for the current year, January 1st through December 31st.
ABC Breed Promotion Junior:
Annual award presented to a current ABC youth seventeen (17) and under in good standing with the ABC Registry and who has participated in exhibits, demonstrations and promotions of ABC horses, in the best interest of the ABC Registry who has accumulated the most points for the current year, January 1st through December 31st.
Youth Rider:
Champion and Reserve Champion. Annual award presented to the youth seventeen (17) and under that is a current ABC junior member in good standing and who has accumulated the most points for the current year, January 1st through December 31st. The points must be accumulated on an ABC Registered horse in open competition against all breeds or in ABC breed events.
Performance Horse:
Champion and Reserve Champion. Annual award presented to the Registered ABC Horse accumulating the most points for the current year, January 1st through December 31st. The points must be accumulated in open competition against all breeds, in ABC breed events, or in horse show performance classes as per listing of the American Horse Show Association and ABC classes.
Versatility Horse:
Champion and Reserve Champion. Annual award presented to the Registered ABC Horse accumulating the most points for the current year, January 1st through December 31st. Must complete one horse show, have miles on the trail, and do at least 4 other events: parade, trail, roping demonstration/clinic, team penning. Present to the horse only, not rider.
Frequent Rider Program:
Champion and Reserve Champion. Annual award presented to a current ABC member in good standing with the ABC Registry who has ridden the most miles in the current year, January 1st through December 31st.
Gymkhana/Speed Program:
Champion and Reserve Champion. Annual award presented to the Registered ABC Horse accumulating the most points for the current year, January 1st through December 31st. The points must be accumulated in open competition against all breeds or in ABC breed events.
In-Hand Program:
Champion and Reserve Champion. Annual award presented to the Registered ABC Horse accumulating the most points for the current year, January 1st through December 31st. The points must be accumulated in open competition against all breeds or in ABC breed events. Horse must be 4 years of age or younger as of January 1 of the current year.
